Artist | Researcher | Educator

Ashlee Barton is an Australian dance artist, researcher, and educator currently based in Naarm. Ashlee trained at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and holds a creative practice-based PhD in Dance from Deakin University, Melbourne. Her artistic practice operates at the intersection of live and digital performance, engaging with questions of female and queer subjectivity through choreographic experimentation, examining how the body (in live and mediated forms) can serve as both a site of critical inquiry and an embodied and poetic form of resistance and expression
